Message: Hello Florence,

many thanks for your comment placed on our guest book.

We do occasionally have a very small TV on in the corner of the bar but only for major sporting events & the volume is always kept very low.

If we are asked to show an event we will, as long as it has no detrimental effect to others.

If at any time other guests are unhappy with it on, then it will be switched of immediately.

Message: We enjoyed a lovely meal before Christmas with friends & were extremely dismayed to see a TV blaring up the corner when we visited last Wednesday night. Very disappointed you had lowered yourselves to this standard. Totally inappropriate for a Traditional, Historic 16th Century Coaching Inn.

Message: En route from Bournemouth to Leeds, I pulled this gem from the Good Beer Guide as a stop for lunch. 10 out of 10 on all counts - friendliness - service - food and real ale - everything was as it should be. Wonderful.

Message: I was disappointed in out meal today. The service, fire and pub itself, but I didn't feel the food came up to its previous high standards. We've been visiting the pub for several years and the food on our last two visits has been disappointing. On this occasion, our fishcakes barely tasted of fish and the Tartare Sauce was just plain nasty.

Message: Yet another delicious sunday lunch at The Althorp, our recently discovered, new favourite pub. This place is a real gem - lovely and cosy (especially in winter with the fires on), consistently good food and great service. Its difficult to justify going anywhere else now!

Message: For the last 18 months, I've had a great time every time I came to your pub: the food is simply fantastic and so reasonably priced. It's fresh and first quality material and there is plenty for those big appetites as well. The service is first class (so rare): the staff is very friendly, helpful and respectful. You never wait more than you should but they never rush you either. The menu offers a wide range of choices. The tables are clean. Moreover, the décor is awesome, the atmosphere warm and welcoming and not just because of the openfire. In other words, you enter the pub and time stops, you're in for a really special treat! After eight years of going places, The Althorp Coaching in is so far the best place I came across in England to share a wonderful meal with friends. It ticks all the boxes and I shall see you again very soon!
